Inspiration
I had the opportunity to design the inspiration feature for NBS Source. A discovery style landing page, aimed at surfacing more manufactures and their work in the construction sector. Additionally the business had a requirement for sponsorship to be available for manufactures who wanted to promote their content for a specified time. I led the UX implementation from ideation to delivery on this project.

Research
At the start of the project, I was provided with a brief from stakeholders, which I reviewed and took key points from. This formed the basis for my product research. I was familiar with similar style websites already, as I use them often when gathering reference and inspiration.
I collated a number of reference designs and noted key UX elements that make up discovery style sites, such as; infinite scroll, save favourites and the overall design being image forward. At this stage I identified this feature would be great to test with manufactures for their feedback.

Throughout the design phase, I created a lot of iterations on layout and UI directions. The only constrains were it had to keep the main site navigation the same, which left a lot of room for a creative angle. Each iterations was vastly different to each other, before finally landing on a hand drawn sketch style. This echoes the sentiment of the page which is discovery and inspiration.

I tailored the questions within the script to gather specific feedback on certain sections as well as allowing for open feedback and further improvements.

The final concept received a lot of positive feedback from high level stakeholders. Stating "Visually it looks great" and "Its a breath of fresh air", this was in contrast to the rest of the NBS Source website. Moreover the tier options for sponsorship I provided gave the business team flexibility when offering this to manufactures.

The overall impact of the Inspiration page was positive. For smaller manufactures, this gives them more exposure to specifiers, which in turn can improve the chances of their products being included in the specifiers next project.
From a business perspective, the Inspiration page satisfied the requirements provided with a clear path to the next iteration to include collections, which I was also able to deliver the UX for. Furthermore we were able to generate additional sponsorship revenue for the business, this was also a good value add when renewal discussions were being had.
